GaNonCMOS for data centres

GaNonCMOS research showed the possibility to increase computation density of a micro server unit up to 25% at negligible cost increase.

This achievement is mainly enabled by a key innovation that was addressed in the project and related to GaNonCMOS embedding technology that will enable a Flat Point-of-Load design eliminating the height of inductors, which is typically the tallest component (see figure 1 below). This is enabled by having components with a height below 1.2mm thanks to which cutouts will be avoided and more micro-server boards in the unit enabled.
